Life Unlocked: Can Christians Have Fun?

Somewhere down the road, there was a misconception that Christians can't, or don't know how, to have fun. As if life ends where the church begins? (Is it okay to blame Jay Z because of that one line in that one song?). Well, Jay Z, I beg to differ, because true life, true living, begins where Christ begins.

We are called to live blameless lives (Philippians 2), not boring. I think we get worried that we won't be able to do anything once we come to Christ, but 4 years later on my walk with Christ, I am being exposed to all that life has to offer and boring is so far removed from my vocabulary.

From Thrill Seeker to Fulfilling My Passions

Life without Christ was a thrill seeker lifestyle. I was doing things and living life constantly seeking thrill, constantly seeking things to make me feel something, cause often times I felt nothing. I felt depressed, like a shell of who I was meant to be. The parties I went to, the drugs I chose to partake in, were my way of filling a void. The traveling I did, the things I brought, were a means to show off that life was treating me well. It was all a means to an end.

Now, being in Christ, the hobbies I seek are for pure enjoyment, to help me stay active, and add some variety to my life. The trips I take are to genuinely explore and take a break from the hustle and bustle with no intention to only post on social media to show off. The things I buy are simply because I have a joy for shopping, not because everyone needs to see I was able to afford the latest MK bag. I'm not even a MK girl, I always have and always will be a Coach girl, but somehow, when I was in the world, that simple fact slipped away. This blog is probably the best example. Life with Christ has removed the paralyzing effect of fear and anxiety. I have such a fire passion and talent for writing, but I never do anything with it because of all the fear, anxiety and doubt I have. But those feelings are not of Christ, and with that, I have the power to work around it. Don't get me wrong, sis is SCARED to launch this blog, but I'm doing it trusting that God can put his hand on it and mold these skills and push me into where he wants me to go. This is me showing God I am ready to use my gifts, I want to use it to glorify and highlight who he is in my life, and I give him FULL permission to use this for his will, Amen.

A Journey of Joy with Christ

Anyway, this is a simple reminder that life is only beginning when you start walking with Christ. I know you are scared to let go of certain things you use to do, but please hear me when I say this: Anything God takes away he replaces. Everything from God is good because he is good. Matter fact, he is love. But not the twisted love this world has shown us, love in its purest form. So that replacement will bring peace, joy, comfort, and all other fruits that come with CHRIST. What you do, the places you go, its all different now, and you appreciate it more. This newfound blog of mine will hopefully highlight all the ways I enjoy my life with Christ right alongside with me. Don't get it twisted, there are some downs and hardships, but hear me clearly, life with Christ, yea we living over here baby, and its far from boring, honey.
